All residential and commercial alarm users must obtain a permit and reimburse the city for false alarms. The city introduced this ordinance in 2011 to reduce the amount of excessive false alarms, which divert police from responding to real emergencies.
An alarm permit costs $15. Please visit the Police Alarm Department's website to register your alarm, pay for an alarm permit or false alarm fees, and manage your account. Payments are accepted online or by mail -- not at City Hall or the Lilburn Police Department.
Registered alarm holders receive one false alarm at no charge during a 365-day period. Non-registered alarms are subject to being summoned to Municipal Court and may be fined $500 upon the first offense.
