Sign & Temporary Use Permits

Sign permits are administered by the Business Services Department on the first floor of City Hall, 340 Main St., Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All sign requirements can be found in the City of Lilburn Sign Ordinance

Permanent Signs

Bring the following to the Business Services Department:

  • Completed application. Download Permanent Sign Permit Application. 
  • Drawing or graphic display of the sign with dimensions. For wall signs, include building elevations. For monument signs, include a site plan showing the location and setback from the right of way.
  • Contractor's business license, proof of insurance, and valid United States issued photo identification (such as state issued driver’s license, state issued ID card, or passport)
  • If sign requires electrical work, submit the contractor's trade license or subcontractor affidavit with attachments. 
  • Permit fee, which can be found on the Fee Schedule (cash, money order, debit/credit card-processing fees apply)

Temporary Signs

Each business may be permitted for up to four temporary signs each calendar year. All temporary signs must remain outside of the public right of way or they will be collected by Code Enforcement. As a rule of thumb, signs must be placed 10 feet from the back of curb; private property owners must grant prior permission.

  • Drawing or graphic display of the sign with dimensions. 
  • Contractor's business license, proof of insurance, and valid United States issued photo identification (such as state issued driver’s license, state issued ID card, or passport)
  • Permit fee, which can be found on the Fee Schedule (cash, money order, debit/credit card-processing fees apply)

Temporary Uses

Temporary uses include any temporary activity that occurs outside of your business, such as a sidewalk or tent sale. Read the ordinance regarding temporary uses. 

To apply for a permit, bring the following to the Business Services Department:
