Holidays at the Historic Wynne-Russell House

Recent structural work was required at the nearly 200-year-old Wynne-Russell House, and a specialized crew has been on-site to ensure the historic structure remains safe and stable. Because of this necessary work, some of the holiday decorating that had been planned for November 22nd will need to be rescheduled for a later date.

All other Christmas festivities at the Wynne-Russell House will continue as planned, and we look forward to welcoming the community to enjoy the season at this cherished landmark.

December 9 & 11 | Free Candlelight History Tours

Experience the glow of holiday candlelight while learning about this 1826 treasure. Two tours each evening — 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. — with light refreshments served.

December 13 | Holiday Open House & Bake Sale

Stop by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to tour the home, snap a photo with Santa, and shop for homemade treats. All proceeds support the preservation and upkeep of the historic Wynne-Russell House.

Any schedule adjustments will be announced in advance through the city’s usual communication channels. Site development is now underway at the First Avenue and Main Street assemblage. This project is another public-private partnership assembled by the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to bring new investment and activity to Old Town.

Crews are preparing the 2.61-acre site for the future mixed-use development approved by Mayor and Council, featuring commercial space along Main Street and residential units along Velva Way.

Lewis Contracting Services began work in early November, and site development will continue through mid-summer 2026. Please note that all plans and renderings are conceptual and subject to change.

We will continue to share updates as progress is made.

Railroad Avenue Project Update: Porchline & the Parking Deck

Work continues to move forward on The Porchline development and the new parking deck in Old Town Lilburn. Crews remain focused on the same scope of work shared last week as they stay on track with the project schedule.

On the parking deck, teams continue progressing on concrete work, cables, safety rails, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems—including fire sprinklers. Installation of doors and hardware is also ongoing.

For the multi-family portion of the project, crews are continuing to dry in both buildings and advance siding and roofing on each structure.
