DOWNTOWN MASTER PLAN charrette recap

Last week, the City of Lilburn hosted the Downtown Master Plan Charrette, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to participate. From the kickoff meeting to open studio sessions and stakeholder conversations, residents, business owners, property owners and community partners showed up with thoughtful ideas, honest feedback and a shared love for Lilburn.

Your voices are helping shape a future vision for Old Town that reflects our community’s values and priorities. Thank you for being part of this important process — we look forward to sharing next steps as the plan continues to take shape.

board Meeting cancellations

Please note that there will be no Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting or Planning Commission meeting this month, as there are no agenda items.

Chipper Week

Chipper service is available this week to help residents dispose of yard debris such as limbs and branches. Please place materials neatly at the curb by the evening before your scheduled collection day.

For best results:

  • Cut limbs to manageable lengths
  • Keep debris loose (no bags)
  • Ensure piles are free of trash or other materials

Thank you for helping keep Lilburn clean, safe and beautiful!

Spring Preparation & Smart Recycling

As you freshen up your home this spring, keep these tips in mind:

  • Donate first
Clothing, shoes, books, and small household items can often be donated instead of thrown away.
  • Recycle cardboard and paper
Break down boxes and keep materials clean and dry before placing them in your recycling cart.
  • Keep certain items out of curbside recycling.
Electronics, cords, and batteries should be taken to the proper disposal or recycling location.

Remember: Reuse first, recycle right and help reduce waste this spring!

Railroad Ave. Project Update: Porchline & The Parking Deck

Construction continues this week with progress on building systems, interior finishes and site improvements. Crews will be working on elevator components, trash chute installation, door and railing painting and conducting additional inspections.

Multifamily construction remains active with ongoing stormwater detention installation, exterior work (brick, siding and painting), final grading around buildings and continued interior build-out including drywall, painting, cabinetry and flooring.

FIRST AND MAIN ASSEMBLAGE UPDATE

Work is underway at the First Ave. and Main St.assemblage, a public-private partnership led by the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to support future investment in Old Town Lilburn. Crews are preparing the 2.61-acre site for a mixed-use development, which is planned to include commercial space along Main St. and residential units along Velva Wy.

Lewis Contracting Services began site work in early November, and crews are installating underground storm utilities. Site development is expected to continue through mid-summer 2026. As this project moves forward, all plans and renderings remain conceptual and subject to change. Updates will continue to be shared as progress is made. This project represents another step toward reinvestment in Old Town, and the City will continue to keep the community informed as work progresses.

Trees In The Sidewalk? Let's Clear That Up...

We’ve heard questions about the trees installed along Main St. between Railroad Ave. and First St. and why they appear to be “in the middle of the sidewalk.” The trees are not located in the sidewalk — they are part of the future streetscape that will accompany sidewalk construction when the adjacent undeveloped property is built.

The planned sidewalk will run along the future storefronts, next to the existing tree line. Installing the trees at the same time as the improvements on the other side of Main St. was a cost-effective decision and allows trees on both sides of the street to mature at the same rate. We understand how this temporary condition can be confusing and look forward to future development that will fully bring the vision to life.
