[ARCHIVED] Lilburn Council schedules approval of tax rate

For immediate release

June 19, 2015

The Lilburn City Council is scheduled to adopt the 2015 millage rate on July 6. The millage rate is proposed to roll back from 4.45 to 4.43.

The City of Lilburn’s proposed 2015 millage rate is less than the 2014 rate. However, the city expects to collect a total of $20,874 more in property taxes, about 1.3 percent more than 2014. This is because assessed property values in Gwinnett County have risen as the economy continues to improve. Because the total amount of taxes collected citywide will increase, the state considers this to be a tax increase and requires three public hearings.

Public hearings: June 29 at 10 a.m.; June 29 at 6 p.m.; July 2 at 6 p.m.

Millage rate approval scheduled: July 6 at 7:30 p.m.

All hearings will take place at Lilburn City Hall, 76 Main St., Lilburn, GA 30047.
