The City of Lilburn will celebrate the holiday season with carols, cocoa, and "warm hugs" at the annual tree lighting on Dec. 1 and the Christmas parade on Dec. 5.
The city will light the tree in front of City Hall on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. The Lilburn Middle School Chorus will perform carols before the ceremonial lighting, and then everyone will welcome in the holiday season by singing "O Christmas Tree" in unison. Families are invited to take photos with Mrs. Claus in front of the 24-foot tree, make a kids' craft, and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. Holiday coloring contest winners will be announced. All coloring contest participants are invited to see their entry displayed at City Hall and receive a goody bag from sponsor Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
This year's Lilburn Christmas Parade will include some new surprises along with the traditional floats, classic cars, and festive walkers. There are nearly 100 entries in the parade down Main Street, which will last from 10 a.m. until about 11:30 a.m. The lineup will begin at First Baptist Church of Lilburn and proceed to City Hall, where there will be free professional photos with Santa and children's crafts after the parade. Kids will be excited to receive a "warm hug" from their favorite Disney snowman.
