Lilburn to create Main Street program

On Nov. 15, the Lilburn Downtown Development Authority unanimously voted to join
the Georgia Main Street program at the affiliate membership level. To officially join the program, City Council approved an agreement on Monday with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. As members of this program, the City of Lilburn is committed to the pursuit of meaningful economic, social, physical and organizational improvements in the historic commercial district. The Main Street network provides an organizational structure for downtown businesses to get involved in making positive changes to the area. Vote: 4-0.

Alcohol Review Board dissolved

The Alcohol Review Board was a volunteer, council-appointed board created in 2007 to author the city’s alcoholic beverage ordinance. The board has administered permitting and enforcement of the ordinance since its creation. City staff is able to fulfill those ongoing duties, so the board was dissolved on Monday. Mayor Johnny Crist commended board members who, over the past decade, have contributed hundreds of hours of service to the community. Vote: 4-0.

Stormwater agreement continues

In cooperation with Gwinnett County, Lilburn assesses fees to property owners based on impervious surface area. Gwinnett County uses those fees for stormwater drainage system maintenance and improvements in the city limits. This agreement has been in place since 2007. City Council voted Monday to renew that agreement for another 10 years. Vote: 4-0.
