New trail coming to Highway 29

Construction on the Jackson Creek Trail project along Highway 29 will begin within the next few weeks.

Council awarded the Jackson Creek Trail project bid to CMES Inc. This Transportation Enhancement Grant funded project consists of 0.824 miles of clearing & grubbing, sidewalk, and installation of one pedestrian bridge along the south side of US 29 from Jackson Creek to Postal Way. CMES Inc was the low bidder in the amount of $786,952. The Transportation Enhancement Grant will cover $700,000 of the project cost and the city will contribute $86,952 in SPLOST funds. Vote: 4-0 

Resolution signed opposing House Bill 302 

City Council approved a resolution expressing opposition to House Bill 302. House Bill 302 would prohibit the City of Lilburn and other local governments from regulating building design elements of single or family dwellings in our jurisdictions. The complete resolution may be viewed in the agenda packet. 
Vote: 4-0

Two rezoning requests tabled 

City Council voted to table two separate rezoning public hearings until the April 8, 2019 City Council Meeting. At the applicants' requests, the Planning Commission tabled action until their March 28, 2019 meeting. Please click on the attached full agenda packet for details regarding the two rezoning requests. Vote: 4-0

Other Business

  • The following upcoming city events were announced; Lilburchaun Parade on March 16 in Lilburn City Park, Great American Cleanup on March 30 at Lilburn City Hall, and the Easter Egg Hunt on April 13 in Lilburn City Park.
  • Council member Tim Dunn was presented the Certificate of Excellence from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute.
