At its September 8 meeting, the Lilburn City Council approved all items on the agenda, including:

  • Public Safety: Adoption of an ordinance granting the Chief of Police authority to designate traffic control devices on city-maintained streets for enhanced safety.
  • Property Taxes: Approval of the change in dates for the collection of property taxes.
  • Downtown Development: Authorization for City Council to loan the Downtown Development Authority $850,000 plus closing costs to purchase 100 Main Street.
  • Special Event Licenses: Addition of language to Chapter 6 of the city code allowing a special event alcohol license to be obtained on city-owned property—this change makes the Wynne-Russell House eligible for fundraising purposes.
