Old Town Design Guidelines Update

At tonight’s meeting, the Mayor and Council will hear a presentation on the ongoing collaboration between City of Lilburn staff, the Sizemore Group, and the Lilburn Community Improvement District to develop design guidelines for the Old Town Overlay. These guidelines, once adopted, will require the formation of an architectural review board made up of appointed design professionals.

Municipal Court Has a New Solicitor!

We’re pleased to announce that Kelsey Wiley has been appointed as the new Chief Solicitor for our Municipal Court. Ms. Wiley previously served as a pro hac solicitor for the City of Lilburn and brings with her a strong background in prosecution across several courts throughout Gwinnett County. We’re excited to welcome her into this new role and look forward to her continued service to our community.

Message from Lilburn Police Regarding Loud Mufflers

The Lilburn Police Department is aware of concerns regarding loud mufflers and is committed to addressing the issue. They have already taken action and will continue to be proactive in ensuring a quieter community. To assist with ongoing problems, the city has set up a reporting system specifically for repeated and somewhat predictable instances of loud vehicles. This system is not intended for one-time incidents but rather for persistent concerns. You can report these issues here via Request Tracker. Your feedback is valuable, and together we can help make Lilburn a more peaceful place to live. Report Loud Vehicle

Comprehensive Plan Update

The City of Lilburn is excited to announce that on April 14th, we will kick off a pivotal update to the 2024 Comprehensive Plan. The establishment of the goals and priorities of the Mayor and Council represents an exciting chance to align the foundational planning effort of a Comprehensive Plan Update with the united vision of City Leadership to provide the foundation for smart, responsible and thoughtful growth in Lilburn for years to come.

This effort will include public engagement of both citizens and community stakeholders over the course of this year under the thoughtful and professional guidance of TSW to ensure that our planning efforts integrate with the efforts of Gwinnett County to bring about growth that reinforces Lilburn's identity while connecting with the whole of Gwinnett County. Be sure to stay tuned for more opportunities to engage with this effort and make your voice heard!

Construction Update on the Railroad Avenue Project

Work on the Railroad Avenue project is coming along well! Crews have finished most of the demolition and have taken steps to control erosion and protect the area. Two key pieces of the stormwater system (called Z-1 and Z-1.1) have been installed and covered. Up next, crews will finish removing leftover debris and continue installing parts of the underground drainage system to help manage rainwater. The project is moving along steadily, and we’ll continue to keep you updated!

Playground Improvements Project Update

We know everyone is excited for the playground to reopen, and we truly appreciate your patience. While it may look ready to go, our team is still working closely with contractors to ensure that all updates and repairs are completed to perfection.

We understand the delay is frustrating, but please rest assured that the safety and quality of the playground are our top priorities. We’re committed to delivering the best experience for our community, and we’ll keep you posted as we move forward.

Bryson/Hood Road Re-alignment Project Update

Progress continues on the Bryson/Hood Road re-alignment project. The new traffic signal at US 29 and Hood Road is now active, improving traffic flow and safety in the area. Work is currently underway on the detention pond located at the front of the project near US 29. Additionally, Comcast Cable is preparing to relocate their line to the new pole at Lilburn School Road. The project remains on track for completion in late July, with a possible variance of approximately two weeks.
