FIRST AND MAIN ASSEMBLAGE UPDATE

Work is underway at the First Avenue and Main Street assemblage, a public-private partnership led by the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to support future investment in Old Town Lilburn. Crews are preparing the 2.61-acre site for a mixed-use development, which is planned to include commercial space along Main Street and residential units along Velva Way.

Lewis Contracting Services began site work in early November, and crews are installating underground storm utilities. Site development is expected to continue through mid-summer 2026. As this project moves forward, all plans and renderings remain conceptual and subject to change. Updates will continue to be shared as progress is made. This project represents another step toward reinvestment in Old Town, and the City will continue to keep the community informed as work progresses.

OLD TOWN TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Site development crews continue tying into sanitary and storm sewer for the future mixed-use development at the corner of Main Street and First Avenue.

Last week, a section of First Avenue was closed, and one lane will remain closed as work continues. During the week of February 9–13, a small section of Main Street will also be temporarily closed to complete the next phase of work.

Work will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Main Street will be open outside of those hours. The contractor anticipates that Main Street will not be impacted for more than two days. Detours:

  • Into Old Town from Hwy 29: Young Estates
  • Out of Old Town toward Hwy 29: Lula Street

Thank you for your patience as this important infrastructure work moves forward.
