Sign, Temporary Use & Special Event Permits
The Business Services Department can assist with sign, temporary use, and special event alcohol permits on the first floor of Lilburn City Hall or by phone at 770-921-2210, option 4.
Bring the following to the Business Services Department:
- Completed application. Download Permanent Sign Permit Application.
- Drawing or graphic display of the sign with dimensions. For wall signs, include building elevations. For monument signs, include a site plan showing the location and setback from the right of way.
- Contractor's business license, proof of insurance, and valid United States issued photo identification (such as state issued driver’s license, state issued ID card, or passport)
- If sign requires electrical work, submit the contractor's trade license or subcontractor affidavit with attachments.
- Permit fee, which can be found on the Fee Schedule (cash, money order, debit/credit card-processing fees apply)
All sign requirements can be found in the City of Lilburn Sign Ordinance.
Each business may be permitted for up to four temporary signs each calendar year. All temporary signs must remain outside of the public right of way or they will be collected by Code Enforcement. As a rule of thumb, signs must be placed 10 feet from the back of curb; private property owners must grant prior permission.
To apply for a permit, bring the following to the Business Services Department:
- Completed application. Download Temporary Sign Permit Application.
- Drawing or graphic display of the sign with dimensions.
- Permit fee, which can be found on the Fee Schedule (cash, money order, debit/credit card-processing fees apply)

Temporary uses include any temporary activity that occurs outside of your business, such as a sidewalk or tent sale.
To apply for a permit, bring the following to the Business Services Department:
- Completed application. Download Temporary Use Permit Application.
- Drawing or graphic display of site with location of event
- Business License
- Description of event, tent, activities

To apply for a Special Event Alcohol License, bring the following to the Business Services Department:
- Completed Special Event Alcohol License Application
- Occupational Tax Certificate
- State and Local Alcohol License
- TIPS Certification for Staff
- Catering License (If applicable)
- Property Owners Signature (on application) or Consent letter
- If the event is held at city property:
- Hold Harmless Agreement
- Certificate of Insurance in the amount of one million dollars ($1,000,000) with City of Lilburn as Certificate Holder.
